Lesson of the Week: Take the High Road!

If I have not yet posted on here about my plans to run for president of Sophomore Class Council, then I will do so now! This week is campaign week at school. So I am having a blast with it. My posters are awesome! With the help of my family and the great mind of Aunt Becky I came up with the slogan “Vote Bethany! She’s the perfect fit!” Now let me rewind a minute in order for you to get the slogan! The theme to all of my posters is a puzzle piece. So now that we have got that understood, my parents went up to school and so graciously helped me out in a huge way and put up the posters on Friday (I couldn’t do it because I was already in Alabama whenever we were allowed to put them up).
So Monday at school was kind of tough because of all the politics that are involved in elections between the candidates. Let’s just say that people weren’t exactly follow the “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!” When I got home from school, I told my mom about what some of them had said and done to me and my stuff and she just told me to take the high road. So come today I was ready to face another day of ridicule, much to my surprise I was not in fact I had the completely exact reaction. I had a number of friends that were ready to be walking advertisement for me! When I got to lunch today, I had several people at my lunch table who more than willing to help me out in whatever way they could. So I took them up on that, Mikey said that he would wear a shirt for me if I made him one, well at first someone said that they should dress up in “a Bethany costume” and walk around and I told Mikey he HAD to do it and he was excited. Ha. Then Jordan said that he was my “manager” and started handing out buttons, stickers and flyers to everybody. He even just ran down the hall putting stickers on random people and yelling Vote For Bethany! My friends mean the world to me! I never really had high expectations for my friends to help, yea I thought they would vote for me but I never thought they would put out that much effort to help campaign for me.
Just keep me in your prayers this week and that I may not take anything said to me to heart and that my friends will be there for me to guide me through. I know that what happens, happens for a reason. If it is not best for me to win then I believe that God will lead me away from that path. No matter the outcome, I will take with me a great experience in life and will have learned a great lesson. I now know that your friends are your friends for a reason they are there for you when ever you need them even if it puts them out of their way a little bit. However if I do win I will be ecstatic and will take the opportunity and lead the Class of 2011 to the best of my ability. I know that it would be a great opportunity to make a better outlook for class councils and to shine like a star and set an example by the way I act in a Godly Christian manner.
I will post pictures later of all my posters and campaign stuff as well at a picture of my and my 2 campaign staffers with our shirts on. :]

Beff, that's so sad that there are people out there that do those kinds of things, but your mom is right about taking the high road. The scriptures tell us "fear not what man can do unto you"

I know that the Lord will be with you, no matter what! Love Ya!

You are doing the right thing in not taking the easy mud-slinging route. Just keep in mind that sermon that Bro. Ben preached this weekend, about having a heart of God. That the Lord is seeking those with an upright heart, and do what you know is right regardless of all the others out there. We are proud of you for not taking it to heart and following Christ more perfectly.
